How did the new Retailer House N2 Home in Manchester Georgia come to be? The answer spans forty-three years of living and working.
I’m Pepper Connell and my husband is Clint. We were married on September 5, 1982, and within twenty days of the day we found ourselves in Manchester, GA opening a Badcock Home Furniture store in the old rock front building on Main Street. We were just out of college, five hours from family and friends and starting a new business in a town where we knew not a sole. But this was a goal…a dream Clint had had for a long time… build a successful business, own a Badcock Home Furniture Store.
And so, for 42 years going on 43 years Clint established Badcock Home Furniture stores in Manchester, Thomaston, Barnesville and other surrounding communities. For 30 years I taught high school at Manchester High, Greenville High and Flint River Academy. In 2012 I came to work full time in business with Clint. I watched what he did daily … what he strived to do in his businesses…Provide the best quality product available to him through Badcock and couple with that fair quality service in an atmosphere that invited his customers to come back again and again.
During these 42 years we have built our life together, became part of neighboring communities, built our home and raised our daughters here in Manchester and now we find ourselves surrounded by family and friends!
All of this and moving closer to retirement until about eight months ago. In July of last year, a course was suddenly set to dismantle and close all Badcock Home Furniture stores…a situation completely unwarned and out of Clint’s control. Throughout this uncharted time our friends, family and so many of our customers who have come to be our friends and family have been our anchors!
We are grateful for your words expressing kindness, support and love. So many memories, laughter, tears and more of the past 42 years have been shared in the past eight months. Above all we are grateful for your encouragement. This has helped us focus, stand up again and begin a new business.
And the ultimate question came to be … what do we call our new furniture store? Reflecting on what happened… the answer is family… where families and memories are created and grown… in the Home.
Our goal identified… helping our customers make their House a Home by way of our retail setting…An inviting, comfortable home where a family grows up and memories are formed and shared for a lifetime!
That is how the name House N2 Home Furniture came to be!
With this new start our mission remains the same… creating and maintaining long standing relationships with our valued customers throughout the five-county area… Upson, Meriwether, Talbot, Harris, and Lamar.
